Earlier this morning, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce held a press conference in the Jefferson Room at the Capitol to announce the release of its 2012 Legislative Report Card, the first of its kind, and to recognize the winners of the Chamber’s legislative awards. Among those recognized for their pro-business voting record, Delegate Ron Villanueva will receive “The Free Enterprise Award”.
“The Legislative Report Card allows us to recognize and honor legislators who uphold free market principles and support the interests of the business community,” said Barry DuVal, President and CEO of the Virginia Chamber. “In addition, it provides analysis of a legislator’s support for the business community’s priorities.”
The Free Enterprise Award recognizes those legislators who went above and beyond to champion free market principles. Also honored with this award are Delegate Barbara Comstock and Senator Mark Obenshain.
Delegate Villanueva accepts this award with humble appreciation and had this to say: “I’m honored to have received this award, given to those in General Assembly who have stood on the side of free enterprise and the private sector, and who have worked to make government more efficient and easier for small business to hire, retain, and expand jobs. I look forward to working with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce and our small businesses in making our Commonwealth prosperous on behalf of all Virginians as we promote our people, products, and services globally.”
All of the Virginia Chamber’s legislative awards will be presented on Wednesday, May 9th at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner the Chamber Board of Director’s Reception and Dinner.
